The Focus: creating the ideal conditions for tango

My goal in organizing this festival is to create the ideal conditions for peak tango experiences. I have assembled a cast of some of the best, most celebrated DJs from around the country; made sure the dance floor is ample and of the highest quality; and worked to foster a festival culture attentive to impeccable floor craft and floor courtesy.

To keep the focus on dancing, the milongas will be almost entirely uninterrupted – almost no performances. You will find your host tango community warm and welcoming. I look forward to seeing you at the inaugural Albuquerque Tango Festival!

Stay a few days before or after the festival and enjoy the high-desert (5,000 feet above sea level) climate of Albuquerque.  Visit the historic Old Town Plaza, ride the world's longest tram to the peak of the Sandia Mountains, visit some of the surrounding Native American pueblos, dig into some of our famous New Mexican cuisine, and much more.

Just an hour north by train or car is Santa Fe, with its historic plaza, abundance of galleries, and extraordinary restaurants.  A few minutes north of Santa Fe is Ten Thousand Waves, an award-winning Japanese spa, perfect for soaking tango-tired bodies.
